Metal Industry CRM

A request reaches a metal-working firm as a cutting list or a technical drawing; the price is discussed by the kilo and the order by the piece. When the same customer says six months later "one more of the last job", nobody holds which grade that calculation was made with, or with what scrap allowance.

Material and labour are separate quote lines; which grade was priced at what sits on the line. When the same part is asked for again, the old quote is opened and the unit price updated.

Metal Industry CRM
  • Record the request with the material type, the grade and the cutting list; split the quote into material and labour lines and have the total calculated from the line items
  • On a repeat order of the same part, open the previous quote from the record and update only the unit price that has changed
  • Track subcontract work such as cutting, bending and welding as stages of the job record, and see from the list which job is waiting at the machine
  • Keep the scrap and remnant length record per job and price the next quote on actual consumption
Request with a Cutting ListThe request is a record; the material type, the grade and the thickness are its fields, and the cutting list sits as an attachment on the same record.
Line-Item QuoteMaterial and labour are separate lines on the quote; the unit price comes from the product record, and the total and the margin are calculated from those lines.
Repeat Order of the Same PartThe previous quote sits under the customer card; when the same part is asked for again, the record is copied, the cutting list and the labour lines come across as they are, and only the material unit price is updated.
Scrap and Remnant LengthThe scrap rate is a field on the job record; when that field of closed jobs is reported, the scrap allowance in the next quote comes from the record rather than from an estimate.

In metal work a quote is not a single figure: the material price per kilo, the grade difference, the cutting and bending labour, the remnant length and the scrap allowance are each calculated separately. That calculation stays in the spreadsheet of the person who prepared the quote; when that person is on leave, or when the same job comes back, the calculation is done again from scratch and the difference between the two quotes cannot be explained to the customer.

Because Rapitek CRM keeps the quote with line items, material and labour appear separately and which grade was priced at what sits in the record. When the same customer asks for the same part again, the old quote is opened from the record and only the unit price that has changed is updated; so on repeat jobs the price rests on the previous record rather than on a remembered figure.

The scope of the plans and the separately priced items are written on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the old price I gave a customer who is ordering the same part for the second time?
The previous quote is recorded under the customer card; you copy the record and change only the current material unit price — the cutting list and the labour lines come across as they are.
How do I tie a price I gave by the kilo to an order that comes in by the piece?
On the quote line the unit weight and the quantity are separate fields; the total weight is calculated from those two fields, and even if the order is opened by the piece, the price is read from the kilo line.
Do we give the scrap allowance in the next quote by estimate?
The scrap rate is a field on the job record; when that field of closed jobs is reported, the scrap allowance in the next quote comes from the record rather than from an estimate. Subcontract work such as cutting, bending and welding are also stages of the job record, so which job is waiting at the machine is read from the list.
Which is the best CRM software for the metal industry?
When choosing a CRM for the metal sector, you should pay attention to sector-specific workflows, integration capabilities, customisation options and support quality. You do not set up Rapitek CRM — we do: we configure the fields, the stages and the reports around your metal working process, we migrate your data, and we train your team in Turkish. Before building our own platform, our team completed more than 200 enterprise CRM projects during its Salesforce years; we do the setup with that experience.
How much does a metal industry CRM system cost?
We keep current plan prices in one place and publish them openly on our pricing page; we do not put figures on this page, so that you do not read two different prices in two places. The price is determined by the number of users and the plan chosen. The scope of setup, data migration and training is not the same in every project; the scope and the setup fee, if any, are worked out together in the discovery call and shared in writing. The Rapi artificial intelligence credit and the ERP integration are separately priced items.
How are CRM integrations done in the metal sector?
If you use Logo, Netsis, Mikro or SAP, your CRM talks to it — we build the connection. There is no out-of-the-box module: because access and field structure on the ERP side change from one installation to the next, a single button does not work the same way everywhere. The connection is built specifically for your project over our REST API covering 183 business objects, OAuth2, webhooks and import/export. We work out the scope and the cost in the discovery call and share them in writing.
How does the move to a CRM system work in the metal sector?
We start with a discovery call: we work out your metal working process together, and which fields and which stages are needed. After the call we give you a date, not a range. We migrate your data, and we train your team in Turkish. There is no call centre on our support line. Your question is answered by the team that builds and develops the product — this is a choice, not a matter of capacity.
Can mobile CRM be used for the metal industry?
Yes. Field and branch teams can update the customer card, the note and the follow-up task from their phone. The app is live on both the App Store and Google Play. The web interface also works on tablet and phone. The app does not work offline; if the connection drops while you are filling in a form, what you have written is kept on the device for 24 hours.
